  • Notes
    • An anomaly in the 1861 census for Plank Lane, Abram, has James's name struck through and replaced with wife Ann, 55, with son John, 12. But James, 57, on the canal in Wigan with Robert, 15, and Alice, 13, is listed as a widower. (Ann is a widow in the 1871 census).
