    Probate record has him an innkeeper of Spencer's Bridge Inn, Newburgh, naming Simeon Vickers and Henry Harrison, boatmen: effects ?90.

    Father's occupation given as labourer in Lancs OPC but cordwainer in the parish record, where her entry and that of her twin Margery are oddly separated by two other unconnected records with later dates.
    Martha had (at least) five illegitimate children before she married Edward Stopforth. Four of them married, and two named no father; Robert's marriage record names his father as Robert Clarkson, and Margaret's as Robert Abram (which may be a 'cover' for Robert Clarkson).
