    In 1871 census as a boarder with James Turner and Catherine nee Sherman (qv, b1834 Scarisbrick, daughter of William Sherman and Ellen nee Bridge) - possibly her nephew.

There is a possible baptism (Cheshire BTs, Findmypast) on July 30 1826 to William and 'Helen' Sherman in Stretton, nr Appleton Thorn, Cheshire, which would make him a brother of the Catherine Sherman b1834 Scarisbrick (qv) who married James Turner in 1853.
