He wrote that Mary had horses stabled at Overlockshaw Farm, near the canal in Mill Hill, Blackburn, owned by a millionaire, Henry Sudell. "The 1935 Barrett's Directory discloses that she loved in a cobbled street, 200 yards from the canal at 28 Angela Street. The house is still standing today and is easily distinguished by an arch through which horses must have been led to Overlockshaw Farm at the rear, and where pens, stables and fields lay where the canal horses could graze and be kept safe. "At the top of the street lay the Navigation Inn which was used by boatmen in need of refreshment or accommodation.
