This will initially appointed John's brother Robert and son Richard Bertram Hickson as joint executors and trustees, but after Robert died in February 1908 he was replaced in a codecil dated April 24 that year by 'William Hickson of Lydiate Lane, Barnton' - his nephew, son of William Hickson and Mary Boden, who in the 1901 and 1911 censuses is recorded as living in Lydgett Lane, Barnton.
