Eliza and her son Philip appear as Hollingsworth in the 1901 census for Douglas, Isle of Man, where apparently she was jailed, and her children (including Philip) sent to Canada as 'Home Children'.
A death is recorded in St Helens, 12.12.1910, of an Eliza Hollingsworth, 'widow of Thomas Hollingsworth, captain of sailing ship of 21 Peel Street, St Helens', informant Jenny Hollingsworth, daughter, of 34 Hall Street, St Helens.

8939 Under the headline "Inquest on Lathom boatman's daughter" the Lancashire Evening Post reported on Aug 14 1931:-
Mr S Brighouse, the West Lancashire County Coroner, returned a verdict of ?Found drowned? at an inquest held, to-day, at the Council Offices, Burscough, on Mary Melling, 28, a single woman, daughter of Ralph Melling, a boatman, of Lord Street, Lathom, who was found drowned in the canal yesterday afternoon.
The evidence showed that she left home at half past 10 on Monday morning last, saying she was going to look for domestic service. She had been somewhat depressed of late. A farm labourer named John Wilshaw stated that he saw her go towards the canal and then walk along the bank. She was not wearing a hat and it was raining hard at the time. Her body was recovered not far from where he had seen her.

8940 Under the headline: "Lydiate child's fatal burns" the Lancashire Evening Post reported on Dec 20 1932:-
A verdict of death from misadventure was returned by Mr S Brighouse, the West Lancashire Coroner, st an inquest last night at Ormskirk on Gladys Webster, 6, daughter of Mr Thomas Webster, a bargee employed on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, living at Canal Bank, Jackson's Bridge, Lydiate.
The child died of burns in hospital at Ormskirk. Mrs Webster, who had a fire in her bedroom because she suffered from asthma, went downstairs on Saturday morning just before eight o'clock. Hearing screams, she ran updtairs and found her daughter in flames The child said that she had gone to warm herself at the fire in her mother's room.
Mr Brighouse said that no blame could be attached to anyone.
