    • A Richard Draper, 64 b Lathom, is in the 1881 census at Ashurst's Beacon, a colliery labourer with a wife Sarah, 65, b Liverpool. This would accord with a marriage at St Nicholas, Liverpool, 14.11.1875 to Sarah Davies, spinster of full age, residence Tithebarn St, father Thomas Davies, foreman, witnesses Robert and Alice Howard - except that Richard is listed as a bachelor, flatman, father James Draper, flatmen. The death certificate for this Sarah indicates that she died in Dalton, 26.1.1887, age 70, as wife of Richard Draper, colliery labourer, the informant being Mary Gaskell, daughter, present at the death.
