    • Surname spelt Dakin in 1841 census, Deacon in daughter Ann's marriage record.
      A report in the Blackburn Standard, 6.12.1848 headed 'Discovery of a large quantity of stolen property' could possibly refer to this man. It read: 'On Sunday the police visited a house at Halsall, near Ormskirk, and discovered 150 lots of stolen property. The occupants of the houise, named William Deakin, a boatman, and his wife were talen into custopdy. The property and prisoners were conveyed to the Ormskirk police station. Several articles have been identified.'
