In 1861 census as "nurse child" in home of James Stock, Moss Lane, Burscough. In 1871 in Burscough Village as servant to Margaret Forshaw, 77, widow.
Father named in both marriage records as William Hurst, carter/horsekeeper, though spinster at first marriage. She had three sons with William Lowe, but no canal connection
