- Blower in baptism record.
A report of his first wife's drowning in the Chester Chronicle, 13.6.1845, headed Fatal Occurrence, states: 'On Friday night the flat Fly of Northwich, William Bloor, master, laden with common salt, sank on her passage to Liverpool during a heavy gale. The captain, finding the vessel had shipped a considerable quantity of water, tried to run her aground at Speakwood, about two miles from Garston, but she became waterlogged and went down immediately. The captain's wife, who was in the cabin, was unhappily drowned. He and the crew were taken off by the captain of a steam vessel who saw the perilous situation.'
