    • Baptism record states: 'About 10 months old'.
      Accidentally drowned; age 38 on DC, 39 in burial record.
      A report in the Staffordshire Advertiser, 29.6.1833, under Commitments to Stafford Couty Jail states: 'Nathaniel Stubbs and Joseph Yardley, charged with stealing a quantity of raw sugar from a boat on the Trent nad Mersey Canal, the property of Messrs Robins & Co.' A further report on 6.7.1833 said that Stubbs, the captain, ar first denied the theft but after being remanded admitted it, saying Yardley knew nothing of it. No evidence against Yardley; Stubbs discharged 'with a suitable reprimand'.
